Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra

My family is ever so grateful to Fran Richman, Carter
Simmons and the entire hard-working and talented
staff of Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra for their
continued support of the music and legacy of my Father, Dr. John W. Downey.

JOHN DOWNEY CREATION PROJECT

MYSO and Present Music have supported for the past several seasons a tremendous mentoring program where talented young musicians can have their music performed by fellow MYSOnians along with the renowned Present Music Ensemble.

Those selected for the Downey Fellows program have the opportunity to work with a professional composer with the goal of creating a concert work.  Guest composers and ensemble Music Directors guide students from the early structural and conceptual issues through the final printing and beginning of rehearsals.

My Father would be proud of every student musician stepping foot in a MYSO practice room or concert hall.  “Bravo,” he would say.  It is an honor for our family to have this stellar program in our Father’s name.  Please continue to support MYSO and its exceptional efforts in motivating and teaching our youth.
